National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is a "Not for Profit" organization established in 2008 as an initiative of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Indian Banks' Association (IBA). Its primary objective is to create a robust and efficient payment and settlement infrastructure in the country. NPCI operates a wide range of retail payment products, including the RuPay card scheme, Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS), and National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC) among others, driving the vision of a less-cash society in India.
