Established in 2014 by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, the Joint Stock Company "National Payment Card System" was created to ensure the sovereignty, efficiency, and security of Russia's national payment infrastructure. Its primary mission is to process all domestic payment card transactions within Russia, issue and promote the "Mir" national payment cards, and develop the Faster Payments System (SBP). The company acts as the clearing and operational center for all internal Russian card transactions, reducing reliance on international card schemes.
