The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) serves as the central bank for the Kingdom of Cambodia. Established in 1954, its primary mission is to determine and direct the monetary policy to maintain price stability and support the general economic policy of the Royal Government. The NBC is responsible for issuing the national currency (the Khmer Riel), regulating and supervising banks and financial institutions, managing the country's official foreign reserves, and overseeing the national payment systems to foster economic development.
