Modern Cooking Facility for Africa
Information by Research TrustFinance
The Modern Cooking Facility for Africa (MCFA) is a multi-donor program established and managed by Nefco, the Nordic Green Bank. Launched in 2021, its mission is to accelerate the transition from polluting, traditional cooking methods (like charcoal and kerosene) to higher-tier, modern solutions such as electric, biogas, and bioethanol cookstoves. By providing results-based financing and catalytic grants, MCFA incentivizes private companies to establish and scale up their operations, making clean cooking solutions more accessible and affordable for millions of people in its target countries. The program aims to improve health outcomes, reduce environmental degradation, and promote gender equality.
