The Ministerio de Hacienda (currently officially named Ministerio de Hacienda y Función Pública) is the government ministry of Spain responsible for proposing and executing the national policy on public finance, public spending, and taxation. Its mission is to ensure the efficient allocation and management of public resources to support sustainable economic growth and social well-being. Historically, it is one of the oldest and most important ministries in the Spanish government, with its core functions including the preparation of the General State Budget, management of public debt, regulation and collection of taxes through its dependent agency (Agencia Tributaria), and control of public expenditure.
