Founded in 1990, Metcombank (Metallurgical Commercial Bank) was a significant universal bank in Russia, headquartered in Cherepovets. It provided a full spectrum of banking services to both corporate and retail clients, with a traditional focus on serving enterprises in the metallurgical industry. Over its 25+ years of operation, it grew to be one of the top 100 banks in Russia by assets. In 2016, Metcombank was acquired by PAO Sovcombank, and the operational and legal merger was completed, resulting in the Metcombank brand being retired and its business, clients, and branches being fully absorbed into the Sovcombank network.
