Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association
Information by Research Trustfinance
Commonly known as the Massachusetts FAIR Plan, the Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association (MPIUA) was established by statute in 1968. It functions as a joint underwriting association, or "insurer of last resort," for property owners in Massachusetts. Its mission is to provide essential property insurance on eligible properties for applicants who have been unable to obtain insurance through the standard, private market. The MPIUA is not a state agency but is a syndicated insurance pool comprised of all insurance companies licensed to write basic property insurance in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
