The company operated throughout the United States. In 2018, Liberty Mutual sold the company to Lincoln Financial Group as part of a strategic shift to focus on property and casualty insurance. Following the acquisition, Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston was formally merged into The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company, its parent company, on October 1, 2019, and ceased to exist as a separate legal entity.
