Founded in 1997, the Latvian Environmental Investment Fund is a state-owned company whose capital shares are held by the Latvian Ministry of Climate and Energy. Its mission is to reduce environmental pollution and promote the preservation of environmental quality and biodiversity by implementing a wide range of investment projects. The Fund acts as a key national institution for administering financing from state budgets, international financial institutions, and European Union funds targeted at environmental protection, energy efficiency, and climate change mitigation in Latvia.
