Established in 1966, the Land of Sky Regional Council is a council of governments that assists local governments in Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania counties in Western North Carolina. Its mission is to provide a wide range of services, foster regional cooperation, and promote sustainable development. The Council's work is divided into several key areas, including Aging & Volunteer Services, Economic & Community Development, Workforce Development, and Regional Planning. It also operates the federally-designated Land of Sky Regional Center for the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program to attract foreign investment for local economic development projects.
