Information by Research Trustfinance
KBC Bank Ireland plc was a fully-owned subsidiary of the Belgian KBC Group. Established in Ireland in 1978, it initially focused on corporate and institutional banking before expanding into retail banking in the 2000s, becoming a significant digital-first challenger bank. It offered a range of services including current accounts, mortgages, personal loans, and insurance. In April 2021, KBC Group announced a strategic withdrawal from the Irish market. Subsequently, KBC Bank Ireland sold most of its performing loan assets and its deposit book to Bank of Ireland, closed all customer accounts, and officially ceased trading in Ireland in 2023.
