The South Carolina Jobs-Economic Development Authority (JEDA) was created by the state's General Assembly in 1983 to act as a statewide conduit for borrowing, primarily through tax-exempt bonds. Its mission is to support the growth of businesses and non-profit organizations, thereby creating employment opportunities for the citizens of South Carolina. JEDA facilitates financing for a diverse range of qualifying projects, including those in manufacturing, healthcare, education, and community development, without putting taxpayer money at risk as its bonds are secured by the borrower's revenue, not by the state.
