Established in 2005, the Irish MiFID Industry Association (IMIA) is the primary representative body for investment firms authorized in Ireland under the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). The association's main role is to represent the collective interests of its member firms to Irish and European authorities, including the Central Bank of Ireland, Irish Government Departments, the European Commission, and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). It facilitates dialogue on regulatory and legislative matters, promotes best practices, and supports the development of the investment industry in Ireland.
