Information by Research TrustFinance
IEX (Investors Exchange) is a U.S. stock exchange founded by Brad Katsuyama and Ronan Ryan, and was famously profiled in Michael Lewis's book "Flash Boys." Launched in 2013 and approved by the SEC as a national securities exchange in 2016, IEX was created to mitigate the effects of high-frequency trading (HFT). Its mission is to build fairer markets by protecting investors through innovative technology, including its signature "Speed Bump" (the IEX Signal Protective Barrier), which is a 350-microsecond delay designed to level the playing field between ordinary investors and predatory HFT firms. The exchange is operated by its parent company, IEX Group, Inc., which also offers market data services through products like IEX Cloud.
