greater vancouver community credit union
Information by Research TrustFinance
Founded in 1940, the Greater Vancouver Community Credit Union (GVC Credit Union) was a member-owned financial cooperative dedicated to serving the communities of Greater Vancouver. It focused on providing ethical financial services and supporting local community development, often with a focus on social and environmental values. In 2011, to provide its members with a wider range of products, services, and a larger branch network, GVC Credit Union members voted to merge with Vancouver City Savings Credit Union (Vancity), another values-based financial cooperative. All operations and assets were absorbed into Vancity, which continues the mission of community-focused banking.
