Originally chartered in 1953 as the I.G.E. Federal Credit Union for employees of the International General Electric Company, the institution expanded its charter over the years. In 1999, it became a community credit union, and in 2002, it was renamed Great Erie Federal Credit Union. As a not-for-profit cooperative, its mission is to serve as the primary financial institution for its members by providing quality, member-focused financial products and services, including personal and business accounts, loans, and investment services.
