Founded in 1970, Granard Credit Union is a local, member-owned financial institution operating under the ethos of "not for profit, but for people." Its core mission is to promote thrift among its members by providing a secure place for savings and to offer access to credit at fair and reasonable rates. As a cooperative, it is owned and controlled by its members, serving individuals and families living or working within its defined "common bond" area in and around Granard, Co. Longford. The credit union is regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland.
