German Sparkassenstiftung Eastern Africa (DSIK) is the regional entity of the German Sparkassenstiftung for International Cooperation. It operates on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and is a non-profit organization of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe. Its mission is to make the German Sparkassen's experience accessible to similar financial institutions in developing and transition countries. In Eastern Africa, DSIK focuses on strengthening its partners—such as microfinance institutions, banks, and financial associations—to enable them to provide professional, sustainable financial services to their clients, particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and disadvantaged population groups.
