GDAX, short for Global Digital Asset Exchange, was launched by Coinbase in 2015 as a trading platform targeting professional and institutional traders, offering more advanced features like order books and charting tools than the standard Coinbase service. In May 2018, Coinbase rebranded GDAX to "Coinbase Pro" to unify its brand identity. Subsequently, in late 2022, Coinbase began phasing out the standalone Coinbase Pro platform, migrating its advanced trading features directly into the main Coinbase website and app under a new section called "Coinbase Advanced" to provide a unified user experience. The original GDAX/Coinbase Pro service has now been fully sunsetted.
