Founded in 1956, Freedom First Credit Union began as a financial institution for General Electric employees in Salem, Virginia. It has since grown into a community-chartered credit union serving the Roanoke, New River, and Shenandoah Valleys. As a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), its mission is to help people and communities prosper by providing affordable financial products, services, and education, with a strong focus on community impact banking, local investments, and fostering financial well-being for its members.
