Florida Local Government Finance Program
Information by Research TrustFinance
Established in 1993 through an interlocal agreement, the Florida Local Government Finance Commission (FLGFC) serves as a financing conduit for its members, which include counties, municipalities, school districts, and special districts throughout Florida. Its mission is to make capital financing available at competitive, tax-exempt rates for various public projects. The Commission achieves this by pooling the financing needs of its members to issue bonds in the national capital markets, thereby reducing the costs of issuance and providing more favorable interest rates than individual local governments might secure on their own.
