Founded in 1870 as Lockport Savings Bank, First Niagara Bank grew to become a prominent multi-state bank holding company headquartered in Buffalo, New York. Through a series of acquisitions, it expanded its footprint significantly in the Northeastern United States. The bank provided a full suite of financial services, including retail and commercial banking, wealth management, and insurance services to individuals, families, and businesses. In 2016, First Niagara Financial Group was acquired by KeyCorp, the parent company of KeyBank, for approximately $4.1 billion. Following the merger, all First Niagara branches and services were rebranded and consolidated under the KeyBank name.
