financial ombudsman service australia
Information by Research TrustFinance
The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) Australia was an external dispute resolution (EDR) scheme that provided free, fair, and independent services to resolve disputes between consumers—including some small businesses—and their financial services providers. It was formed from the merger of several predecessor schemes and handled complaints about products and services such as banking, credit, loans, insurance, and investments. On 1 November 2018, FOS, along with the Credit and Investments Ombudsman (CIO) and the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal (SCT), was replaced by a single EDR body, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA), following a government review.
