Founded in 1974 by Unione Confcommercio Milano, Fidicomet is a cooperative credit guarantee consortium ("Confidi") that supports the economic development of its member companies. As a supervised financial intermediary registered with the Bank of Italy, its primary mission is to facilitate access to credit for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the commerce, tourism, and service sectors. It achieves this by providing collective guarantees to banks and financial institutions, thereby reducing their risk and making it easier for member businesses to secure loans and financing.
