The European Money Markets Institute is an international non-profit association based in Brussels, founded in 1999 with the launch of the Euro. Its primary mission is to serve the public good by providing robust and transparent financial benchmarks. EMMI is best known for administering EURIBOR, a critical interest rate benchmark that indicates the average rate at which a panel of European banks can borrow funds from one another. The institute took over the administration of EURIBOR to ensure its compliance with the EU Benchmarks Regulation (BMR) following industry-wide reforms. EMMI is also the benchmark administrator for the Euro Short-Term Rate (€STR), a reference rate for the euro published by the European Central Bank.
