The company's service was designed to provide a more efficient and transparent alternative to the traditional correspondent banking system, allowing banks, financial institutions, and money transfer operators to send and receive payments globally through a single API connection. Earthport was listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange. In May 2019, the company was acquired by Visa Inc. and its technology and network have since been integrated into Visa's global payment services, primarily enhancing the capabilities of Visa Direct.
