(ECX) was founded to provide critical internet exchange infrastructure, allowing internet service providers, content delivery networks, and other businesses to efficiently exchange internet traffic. In 2002, the company was acquired by Equinix, a global leader in digital infrastructure and data centers. The services and infrastructure of ECX were absorbed into Equinix's offerings, evolving over time to become a core component of what is now known as Equinix Fabric™, a software-defined interconnection service that allows businesses to privately and securely connect to a rich ecosystem of clouds, networks, and partners globally.
