District Council 9 (DC9) is a chapter of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT), serving as a central labor organization for the finishing trades in New York City. Its members include painters, decorators, wall coverers, drywall finishers, glaziers, architectural metal glassworkers, and other allied trades. The council's mission is to advocate for fair wages, comprehensive benefits (including health, pension, and annuity funds), and safe working conditions for its members through collective bargaining, political action, and community engagement. It also provides extensive apprenticeship and training programs to ensure a skilled workforce.
