Founded in 1992 in Victoria, British Columbia, Custom House was a leading global provider of foreign exchange and international payment solutions for corporate clients. The company specialized in helping businesses manage currency risk and execute cross-border transactions. In 2009, Custom House was acquired by Western Union for approximately $370 million and was integrated into the new Western Union Business Solutions division. In 2021, Western Union sold this division to private equity firms Goldfinch Partners and The Baupost Group, which subsequently rebranded the entire business to Convera, continuing its mission to simplify and power cross-border commerce.
