Founded in 1848, Crédit du Nord was a group of eight regional banks in France (Courtois, Kolb, Laydernier, Nuger, Rhône-Alpes, Société Marseillaise de Crédit, Tarneaud, and Crédit du Nord itself). It operated as a subsidiary of Société Générale, providing a full range of banking and financial services to individuals, professionals, businesses, and institutions. Its mission was to be a trusted local banking partner, leveraging its regional presence. In January 2023, the network officially merged with Société Générale's French retail network, creating a unified bank under the brand "SG" to enhance efficiency and market position.
