Founded in 1997 as Cooperativa Central Cecred, the organization was established by eight credit unions in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil. Its mission is to provide central support services, technology, and governance to its affiliated cooperatives, enabling them to offer competitive financial solutions while promoting local economic and social development. In 2019, the system underwent a rebranding to become "Sistema Ailos" to better reflect its unified and modern identity. It operates under the principles of cooperativism, where members are also owners, and focuses on humanized financial relationships.
