Founded in 2014, Coinprism was one of the earliest companies to develop and popularize the concept of "colored coins," a protocol for creating and transacting with custom digital assets on top of the Bitcoin network. Its core product was a user-friendly web wallet that enabled individuals and businesses to issue assets representing things like shares, bonds, commodities, or currencies. The company also created Openchain, an open-source distributed ledger technology. The project and company are no longer active, having ceased operations around 2016-2017.
