The company's core mission was to enable financial institutions, such as banks and credit unions, to deliver a wide range of secure banking services to their customers' mobile devices. Their platform supported multiple mobile channels, including SMS, mobile web, and downloadable applications, allowing users to check balances, transfer funds, pay bills, and receive alerts. In June 2012, ClairMail was acquired by the UK-based mobile money specialist Monitise plc for approximately $173 million. ClairMail's technology was integrated into Monitise's offerings, and the company ceased to exist as an independent entity.
