Chemical Bank
Information by Research Trustfinance
The "Chemical Bank" name has two significant histories. The original Chemical Bank, founded in New York in 1824, grew to be one of the largest banks in the U.S. before merging with Chase Manhattan Bank in 1996. A separate entity, Chemical Financial Corporation, based in Midland, Michigan, grew to become the largest bank headquartered in Michigan. In 2019, this Chemical Bank merged with TCF Financial Corporation, initially taking the TCF name. In 2021, TCF was acquired by Huntington Bancshares Incorporated, and all operations were consolidated under the Huntington National Bank brand. Today, the business and services of the former Chemical Bank are part of Huntington, a full-service regional bank.
