Founded in 2016 by Jon Steinberg, Cheddar aims to provide accessible, non-partisan news coverage on business, technology, and media for a younger audience. The network broadcasts live daily from studios in New York City, including one at the New York Stock Exchange. Originally an independent venture, Cheddar was acquired by Altice USA in 2019. In 2023, Altice USA sold Cheddar News to Archetype, a media company, under which it continues to operate.
