(CFP Board) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1985 that serves the public by fostering professional standards in personal financial planning. It sets and enforces the requirements for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certification, which is recognized as the standard of excellence for competent and ethical financial planners. The board's mission is to benefit the public by granting the CFP® certification and upholding it as the recognized standard of excellence for personal financial planning.
