Originally established to serve the communities in the Central Murray region of Victoria and New South Wales, Central Murray Credit Union (CMCU) was a customer-owned institution providing a range of retail banking services, including savings accounts, personal loans, home loans, and insurance. Focused on community values and member benefits, the credit union operated for many years before entering into a merger. In 2015, Central Murray Credit Union Limited merged with Hume Building Society (now Hume Bank Ltd) to create a larger, more robust mutual banking entity, continuing the tradition of customer-owned banking across a wider regional footprint. All operations and services of the former CMCU are now managed by Hume Bank.
