Established on September 16, 1960, the Banco Central de Nicaragua (BCN) is the central bank of the Republic of Nicaragua. Its primary objective is to maintain the stability of the national currency, the Córdoba, and to ensure the proper functioning of the country's internal and external payment systems. The BCN acts as the sole issuer of currency, regulates the financial system, manages international reserves, and serves as the financial agent and banker for the government.
