Founded in 1996, Carolina Bank operated as a state-chartered commercial bank headquartered in High Point, North Carolina. It provided a comprehensive suite of banking products, including checking and savings accounts, commercial and consumer loans, mortgages, and wealth management services to individuals and small-to-medium-sized businesses. The bank focused on building community relationships across the Piedmont Triad and surrounding regions. In November 2017, Carolina Bank was officially acquired by First Bancorp, the parent company of First Bank, and all its branches and operations were subsequently rebranded under the First Bank name.
