The company's primary business involved owning, operating, and managing a vast network of ATMs located in high-traffic retail locations, such as convenience stores, supermarkets, and pharmacies. In June 2021, Cardtronics was acquired by NCR Corporation for approximately $2.5 billion. Its operations have since been integrated into NCR's self-service banking division, which was subsequently spun off in October 2023 to form a new, independent public company named NCR Atleos.
