Founded in 1983 in Brussels, Belgium, Callataÿ & Wouters established itself as a leading international provider of information technology solutions and services for the banking industry. The company was renowned for its core banking platform, Thaler, which was used by retail banks, private banks, and asset management firms. In 2012, Callataÿ & Wouters was acquired by the French IT services company Sopra Group. The merger created a new, larger entity named Sopra Banking Software, which combined the expertise and product portfolios of both companies to become a major European player in the banking software market.
