Caja Central Financoop
Information by Research TrustFinance
Founded in 1970, Financoop operated as a central financial institution for the cooperative sector in Chile. Its mission was to promote the development and financial stability of its member savings and credit cooperatives by offering them liquidity, financing, and other banking-like services. It functioned as an "economic integration organization" under Chilean law. However, the company faced a severe crisis due to insolvency and fraudulent administration, which led to an intervention by Chile's financial regulator and its subsequent forced liquidation in early 2019, ending its nearly 50 years of operation.
