Bitvo Exchange
Information by Research Trustfinance
Founded in 2018, Bitvo Inc. was a Calgary-based cryptocurrency exchange designed to provide Canadians with a secure and user-friendly platform for buying, selling, and trading digital assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The company was registered with FINTRAC as a Money Services Business (MSB) and was the first crypto asset trading platform to be registered as a Restricted Dealer by the Alberta Securities Commission (ASC), allowing it to operate across all Canadian provinces and territories. In mid-2022, Bitvo was acquired by the global crypto exchange FTX. However, following FTX's collapse and bankruptcy filing in November 2022, Bitvo suspended all operations, halted withdrawals, and was included in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, leading to its closure.
