The ITAA was established on June 1, 2019, following the merger of two professional institutes: the Institute of Accountants and Tax Consultants (IAB/IEC) and the Professional Institute of Accountants and Tax Experts (BIBF/IPCF). As an institution established by public law, the ITAA's mission is to manage access to the profession, oversee the quality of professional services provided by its members, and ensure compliance with ethical standards. It acts as the central point of contact for certified accountants, (certified) tax advisors, and trainee accountants in Belgium, ensuring the public can rely on the competence and integrity of these professionals.
