BBVA Ventures
Information by Research Trustfinance
BBVA Ventures was established as the strategic venture capital unit of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA). Its mission was to invest in and support innovative startups disrupting the financial services industry. Operating with a dedicated fund, it made notable early-stage investments in companies that later became industry leaders, such as Coinbase, DocuSign, and Personal Capital. In 2016, BBVA significantly expanded its venture strategy by becoming the sole limited partner in Propel Venture Partners, an independent VC firm. This move effectively rebranded and evolved the activities of BBVA Ventures, with the Propel team taking over the management of future fintech investments on behalf of the bank.
