Founded in 1991 and headquartered in High Point, Bank of North Carolina grew to become one of the largest banks based in North Carolina. It operated as a community-focused commercial bank, offering a comprehensive suite of services including personal and business banking, mortgage lending, and wealth management. Through a series of acquisitions, it expanded its footprint across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. In 2017, Bank of North Carolina's parent company, BNC Bancorp, was acquired by Pinnacle Financial Partners in a transaction valued at approximately $1.9 billion, and all Bank of North Carolina branches were subsequently rebranded as Pinnacle Bank.
