Originally established in 2008, Banif Bank (Malta) plc was a key player in the Maltese banking sector and a subsidiary of the Portuguese Banif Group. Following the resolution of its parent company, the Maltese subsidiary was acquired in 2016 by a group of Maltese and foreign investors, led by Alantra's Private Equity division. In 2017, the bank underwent a comprehensive rebranding exercise and officially became BNF Bank p.l.c. Today, as BNF Bank, it continues to operate as a core domestic bank in Malta, offering a full range of personal and business banking services, including savings accounts, loans, credit cards, and corporate financing, with a focus on community-oriented banking.
