Australian Financial Complaints Authority
Information by Research TrustFinance
The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) is a non-government ombudsman service that provides dispute resolution for consumers and small businesses with unresolved complaints about financial firms. Established on 1 November 2018, AFCA replaced three predecessor schemes: the Financial Ombudsman Service, the Credit and Investments Ombudsman, and the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal. It is a company limited by guarantee, authorised by the Australian Government, and its services are free for complainants. AFCA's mission is to resolve financial disputes in a fair, independent, and efficient manner, thereby improving standards and practices in the financial services industry.
