Founded in 1996 in Jaipur, India, by Mr. Sanjay Agarwal, the company began as AU Financiers, a non-banking finance company (NBFC) primarily focused on financing commercial vehicles and secured business loans for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). For over two decades, it built a strong presence in serving under-banked and un-banked customers in rural and semi-urban areas. In 2015, it received a license from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to establish a Small Finance Bank, and in April 2017, it officially commenced its banking operations as AU Small Finance Bank. The bank's mission is to provide inclusive banking solutions through a combination of physical branches and digital platforms.
