Alliance Trust Investments was the in-house investment management arm of Alliance Trust PLC, one of the oldest and largest investment trusts in the United Kingdom, founded in 1888. In a strategic shift to improve performance and simplify its structure, Alliance Trust PLC sold Alliance Trust Investments to Liontrust Asset Management in a deal that completed in April 2017. Following this, Alliance Trust PLC transitioned to a multi-manager investment model, with its global equity portfolio now managed by Willis Towers Watson. The original "Alliance Trust Investments" team and funds were integrated into the Liontrust brand.
